The Rune
2025 Skyscraper Design Competition
3rd Place
Oslo, Norway
Goal
To develop an iconic wooden skyscraper in Oslo that redefines the future of urban workspaces and cultural infrastructure. The project integrates predominantly office space with a public museum at its base and a forest observation deck at its summit, creating a vertical ecosystem that connects work, culture, and nature. Constructed primarily from sustainably sourced wood harvested from nearby forests, the tower is designed to set a new global precedent as the tallest wooden skyscraper to date, marking a pivotal moment in Norway’s architectural evolution.
Beyond its physical form, the skyscraper is envisioned as an economic and cultural catalyst, generating hundreds of new jobs, attracting global tourism, and reinforcing Oslo’s identity as a leader in sustainable innovation. By blending environmental responsibility with bold architectural ambition, the project aims to foster community, celebrate Norway’s natural resources, and create a landmark that future generations can take pride in.
